RELEASE

July/2020

ABTCP TO RUN THIS YEAR’S INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS AND 9TH ICEP IN VIRTUAL FORMAT.
EXHIBITION POSTPONED TO 2021

The Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (ABTCP) has jointly decided with the companies participating in the 2020 Exhibition to postpone the event, and hold the 53rd Congress & 9th ICEP virtually this year. The decision was made based on the importance of maintaining conscious distancing in view that the new coronavirus pandemic continues advancing in several parts of Brazil and around the world and also because science has not yet come up with efficient drugs or vaccines to contain the pandemic.

The essential nature of the pulp and paper sector, which intensified its operations since the beginning of Covid-19 to satisfy society demands in the areas of packaging, food, medication, hygiene products and raw materials for health items, continues valued by ABTCP in themes that will be addressed at the 53rd Congress & 9th ICEP. The event’s preliminary program, entirely organized on a virtual platform, will allow for the participation of a greater number of Congress members and will soon be available for consultation at: www.abtcp2020.org.br. The program is being organized considering the time zones of speakers from different countries and Congress members from Brazil and around the world, in order to offer the best international agenda possible.

The ABTCP Exhibition, which has been rescheduled for August 10-12, 2021 and will simultaneously also include the Congress event in São Paulo at the Transamérica Expo Center, will take place in the same pavilions D and E that were going to be used this year. This change will position the event in a strategic year for the global economy’s recovery and will certainly require from manufacturers and suppliers of the pulp and paper sector – and from all other segments in the production chain – creative solutions to be able available to visitors of Latin America’s most prestigious venue of technologies for our industry.
